Tuck or Durkey?

What type of crazy looking duck is this? We've never seen this kind before. There was a whole flock at the lake--- Poor ugly things. Geese are such bullies but they never once interfered with these guys!

Feeding Critters...

The ducks kept biting Talon's hand along with the bread--- didn't hurt but kept startling him. Talon said: They're quite fast snappers!

Don't lean over too far!!

A kind stranger took our picture...

Hungry bread eating carp!

Feeding fish and regular run-of-the-mill ducks...

The turtles had no interest in bread...

A couple of local characters driving their golf cart on the pier. Talon said: Take a picture! So I did. I wasn't brazen enough to take a frontal shot but the driver had a super long white beard. He would have looked right at home driving a sleigh--- or at least a harley!

BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!

September is my one hectic month at work. October 1 is the childcount deadline for funding and schools are serious about funding so this week is intense. I'm practically nabbing 3 yr olds off the streets since they bring in big bucks. So loads of work and what do I see when I walk into my room at my one day a week school: Books... Piles of books... Books Galore... a maze of precariously stacked books! Not good for a bookworm with work to do. I adore books of all kinds so I was falling into books all day--- literally and figuratively...

See what I mean about precarious--- few shelves came with the books so they are stacked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa all over the floor, tables and even in the windows! Difficult to navigate and I'm compelled to open any that catch my eye and so many do. Doesn't matter if they are picture books, reference, new fiction or literary classics. Each book is like a treasure chest of wonders calling: 'Hey Lesa, open me' 'No, over here, open me'...

Kiddie Park!

Here are photos of Talon at the Kiddie Park in Bartlesville. The park has existed since 1947--- some of the rides are charmingly retro and some are newer. There are about 16 rides including a small rollercoaster and a train that circles the perimeter of the park. Oh, I wish we had known about the Kiddie Park sooner--- the rides are the perfect size for toddlers and each ride costs only 25 cents. Well, a couple cost 50 cents but still what a deal! Bartlesville is so fortunate to have the Kiddie Park. The rides are sponsored by businesses and organizations--- so the community knows how lucky they are. Wish Eufaula had a kiddie park--- that would be a perfect location.
Little dodge'ems--- a bit trickier for Talon than the round ones at Incredible Pizza...

Incredible Pizza Part Two...

And the winners of the go-cart race are--- Talon and his Pa in car #22 sponsored by Caterpillar--- and the crowd goes WILD!

Talon helped edit this photo-- he chose black and white and the frame. He thinks the frame looks like a racing flag.

Even the kiddie bowling balls are hard to handle....

Labor Day weekend, we took Gram and Pa to Incredible Pizza--- so much fun! We all bumped ourselves silly in the crazy round bumper cars and Talon was ecstatic to win the go-cart race. He thought it was very funny that I lost. Never drive car #3--- it is SLOW! Jim and Talon starred in a silly music video--- hopefully I can upload it to the computer soon.

Oh, Saturday is a better day for the food by the way. It was yummy this time.

Talon loved seeing this cool old tractor--- he can't wait to take his Pa to see it. They are both tractor buffs.

Woods, Lakes and Rocks...

Here we are enjoying the woods, lakes and rocks at the Woolaroc Nature Preserve. Frank Phillips derived the name Woolaroc for his ranch from the woods, lakes and rocks that make up the Osage Hills region of NorthEastern Oklahoma.

Mystery Birds...

Here are photos of our pair of mystery birds. Does anyone know what they are?

These birds have been around all summer and seem too small to be orioles so we think they may be finches. The female is pale yellow and the male is a vibrant yellow. They mainly eat the seeds off the spent sunflowers--- and other flowers too.

Nectar Chef!

Talon whips up hummingbird nectar every 2 days...

and samples often!

When I remind him to leave a bit for the birds, Talon runs through the house flapping his arms while humming loudly.
