A Bucket O' Pup!

Aw, isn't this sweet...

This bucket loving puppy is the progeny of Snowpaw, our dumped doggie non grata.  And after three weeks under a barn, pup says a cozy bucket is 'moving on up'!

Yep, Snowpaw had her pups way under a barn where we could not really see or help them in any way. With a flashlight there appeared to be three but by the time she moved house to under a barn with better access there was only one.  When pup finally sat up in it's little hollow under the barn, I gently pulled it out with a hoe.

Now we have one fat little snoozing pup in a bucket on the porch.

or attempting to snooze. *sigh*

Lady, please... enough already!

Can't a puppy get a little shuteye around here!

Poor little funny looking thing. Kinda cute though despite her unfortunate appearance, don't you think? And considering the ugly sour faced no-tail father, pup is actually quite fortunate in the looks department. Relatively speaking, that is.

As much as pup loves sitting in the bucket, she does come out for a little waddle now and then.

Did I mention this pup is a butterball? So low and wide to the ground.  Really, if she didn't have a tail, she would look just like a fat guinea pig waddling around.

And she does have a waggy little tail.

After an outing, pup heads... where?

Back in the bucket, of course!

And that tail spot! Funny but it matches the one on her head, I suppose.

So anyhoo, pup goes in and out of the bucket... sits in the bucket... sleeps in the bucket...and sometimes...

Falls out of the bucket!

But mainly...

Sleeps in the bucket!

Sleeps and sleeps.

In the oddest positions.

And did I mention this pup is a bit on the chubby side?

Upcoming: a jealous mama dog post and puppy naming post and... well, rest assured there will be plenty of puppy posts so please stay tuned.

Frisbee Dogs At Silver Dollar City!

One of Talon's favorite shows at Silver Dollar City's Kid Fest is the Stunt Dog Show.  The dogs catch frisbees, high jump, run obstacles, do tricks and more.

I don't remember this dog's name but for a small fee Talon got to throw the frisbee for it after the show was over.  Of course, Talon wanted to pay another small fee but we distracted him with a visit with Super Sonic on the way out the door.

Talon loves Super Sonic and it was a very very long meet and greet.

Just two big ol' cuddlebugs...

Here is a video of Talon's frisbee throwing fun:

Doggie Non Grata

Sunday afternoon, we returned home after spending three days in Oklahoma City to kick off our summer fun. We ate fabulous food, shopped and played at the science museum and amusement park! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Fun till we came home, that is. Then, it was-- Crap! Crap! Crap!
While we were gone, UPS delivered some Skecher Tone Up sport/water sandals that I had ordered.

Guess where the brilliant driver left the package?

Right on the porch...
UH-OH!
Can you believe it!?

And the sandals were out in the grass in less than pristine condition!

I did find the ankle strap, thank goodness, and hope it can be sewn back on since these are the most comfy water/sport sandals ever. They are sproingy like a reebok dmx! Should be great for water rides and walking all day at Silver Dollar City.

Drat-- look at this! So aggravating!!

And who is the culprit?

Snowpaw aka Doggie Non Grata!!

This isn't Snowpaw's first infraction, by the way.

And we wondered why she had been dumped... bet the dumpers had a big ol' heehaw at our expense!

Cars and Canines!

Can't believe we only made it to one carshow this fall!  Really no need to go to more than one since the Robbers Cave State Park Fall Festival and Car Show is the biggest and best with over 400 cars.

This is the only car show we go to that has almost as many canines as cars.  Makes me laugh every year so this time I took photos of a few of the car loving doggies!

Red Hot!

Yes, I'm still partial to trucks!

Too Cool!

These cars are works of art inside and out!

A Patriotic Mean Machine!

Batman and Robin!

The Batmobile!!

Robin's car? See the sign in the window...

Too Cute!

Aw!  Talon wants to meet every dog and he always asks permission before petting!

What a cool truck! Wouldn't this be perfect to haul my produce to the farmer's market!

Love this Firebird!  What an autumn color-- very pumpkiny!

Isn't this a pretty dog!

How sweet!   Notice that the pretty dog's less attractive friend moved in for some petting...

Apparently cars and canines go together like peas and carrots! Which is your favorite car and/or canine?

Halloween in Checotah!

Last year, we serendiptously discovered Checotah's Halloween extravaganza-- it was quite the unexpected lagniappe so we made a point to attend this year. Click here to read about our 2009 Checotah adventure.

So much better than Stigler--  downtown is blocked off;  store owners dress up and everyone is happy and friendly.   Alleys and adjacent parks are decorated for kids to walk through and trick or treat. A church parking lot holds a huge trunk or treat.

Witchy Woman

Talon sitting in for Witchy Woman-- Watch out, he'll cast a spell on you with his prize boomerang!

Isn't that a fabulous witch hat?!  Cool tights and splendid pointy chin-- This witch has got it going on!

On a side street, we discovered a carnival hosted by the fire dept. Lots of fun and  games-- Talon bobbed for apples and even won another cake at the plunko game.  I didn't get a photo of the apple bobbing unfortunately-- Talon cheated by biting it by the stem. Too funny--  the outsmarted teens running the bobbing started removing stems fast and furiously.

Isn't this a fun costume! Looks easy to make too!
