Frisbee Dogs At Silver Dollar City!

One of Talon's favorite shows at Silver Dollar City's Kid Fest is the Stunt Dog Show.  The dogs catch frisbees, high jump, run obstacles, do tricks and more.

I don't remember this dog's name but for a small fee Talon got to throw the frisbee for it after the show was over.  Of course, Talon wanted to pay another small fee but we distracted him with a visit with Super Sonic on the way out the door.

Talon loves Super Sonic and it was a very very long meet and greet.

Just two big ol' cuddlebugs...

Here is a video of Talon's frisbee throwing fun:

Seasonal Scenes from Silver Dollar City!

The Old Time Christmas Festival at Silver Dollar City is a great way to get in the spirit of the holidays. There are music, shows, shopping and lights galore!  The festival runs the months of November and December so make plans for next year. Even if the air is shivery, there is plenty of hot chocolate and wassail to warm you from your nose to your toes.

A SDC take on Dicken's A Christmas Carol--- lots of singing, dancing, comedy and tugging on the heartstrings.

This guy is just too much!!  Wonder how many 'Hey Mom, there's Santa!' he got...

Now that is a big tree! It puts on a light show at night which you can see in the video

My gingerbread goofballs!

Talon loved the cute Frosty The Snowman play. He thought the smart mouth raccoon and dumb mailman were very funny but when Frosty actually moved and talked-- that was too cool!  The first video shows a bit of Frosty moving and talking and the second shows the back of Talon as he gets into singing the song 'Let it Snow'

The parade of lights is very popular-- it is best to get in prime viewing position about 30 minutes early. Here are a few parade shots-- my little point and shoot can only do so much so I missed pretty much all  of the floats and cool characters-- but I'm upgrading soon-- more about that later!

Funny ears and a funny schtick-- kept the riders entertained!

Pretty!  This is the only time of the year that SDC is open after dark so we get to see some of our favortite rides in a new light!

Look at my hubby working the headgear-- what a lucky girl I am! hahahahha

Day two was uncomfortably cold and we didn't hold out till dark to ride the train through the animated lights. That was the only Christmasy thing we missed.  Talon and I still rode our fave rollercoaster, Thunderation, though-- We are tough!!

Hot chocolate hits the spot! If you go to the right stand, the cocoa is made with milk with scoops of  chocolate chips and marshmallow added to your mug and a topping of whipped cream--plus a little candycane for a lagniappe-- didn't take us long to find the right stand!

Got the Bases Covered...

Mailing a letter...
Writing Santa a letter at Silver Dollar City

Nerf gun and racecar

Visiting with Santa at the bank...
Talon wouldn't tell me what he whispered-- he just said wait and see.  He said he knew what he was getting for Christmas because he asked Santa.   I explained that the surprise is part of the fun so Santa might bring something else.

Plentiful Punkins!

The DustyUs family spent a three day weekend in the Ozarks at Silver Dollar City's Harvest Festival!  All of SDC's festivals are fun but the Harvest Festival is our favorite-- mainly due to the cooler temps, fall foliage and the multitude of additional artisans to visit.

This year we went three weeks earlier than usual so the temps would still be warm enough for water rides. Temperatures in the 80s with no humidity were perfect but the water was ice cold!! You should have heard us shriek!  Didn't stop us from riding over and over though.

The tradeoff to attending early is no spectacular fall color from Mother Nature but SDC made up for it with plenty of gorgeous decorations.

A Cornucopia of pumpkins...

Oh, the colors and shapes... see that deep red one?

Isn't it glorious?!
Have you ever seen so many speckles, splotches and stripes?

Talon is partial to this little cutie...

Getting an idea...

Punkinhead!

Do these photos make you think of pumpkin pie?  Me too-- even though I'm a sweet tater pie girl!

Last year,  I never saw of shortage of fresh or canned pumpkin, did  you?  Apparently, some pumpkin pie lovers purchased $100 cans of pie filling off of ebay.  Unbelievable! Well, no worries this year,  Libby's has reported a bumper crop!   Pin It

Roller Coaster Crazy!

Talon wanted to ride the small roller coaster at Silver Dollar City by himself this time. He was so proud and, of course, I was proud of him too... but I was relegated to the sidelines all by my lonesome.

See Talon in the last car... his arms are up and he is raring to go!
(but he looks so little)

Going up...

Higher and higher.... (but he looks so little)

Whee! (doesn't he look little to you?)

Hi, Mom!

Little boys grow up too fast!

My Very Own Mad Hatter!

Hubbies... gotta love'em... just gotta pretend not to know them sometimes! ;o)

While Talon and I rode the swings at SDC, Jim created this masterpiece of a sunhat for his cone!

Oh yes, I was in hysterics over this one!

You did want to see a close up, didn't you? What a combo: my girly visor plus a SDC newspaper.

A side view. Doofy as all get out but kinda clever too. Of course, he could have just bought a cap--- But my wonderful hubby never misses an opportunity to be a figure of fun for the amusement of all.

Does your spouse do inexplicably doofy things in public? Surely, I'm not the only wife afflicted with an overabundance of amusing but potentially embarrassing hubby hijinks?! Please share an anecdote so I won't feel like the only wife in the world married to a goober clown! ;o)
