Nifty Thrifty Cups

Snagged these cozy cups at a local junkstore recently-- aren't they cute?! And only .25 each!

The white one is a thick heavy pyrex-- reminds me of old timey cafe cups.

The curvy yellow one is Mikasa.

The Mickey is from Disney.

The tall one is Royal Norfolk.

I like them all but can you guess which is my favorite...

Love it! I've never had a tall narrow mug before! The colors make me happy and the graphics remind me of spyrograph-- remember that toy?

Which is your favorite?

Vintage Yellow Pyrex

Yes, I have a thing for vintage pyrex... it is charming and useful. This yellow oven-to-table dish is circa 1950s, I think. When I married and moved to Oklahoma 25 years ago, this dish was already part of my long-time bachelor groom's kitchen. I'm sure it was a hand-me-down from his mother or grandmother. Of course at age 19, my appreciation of pyrex was as yet undeveloped...so I'm glad I didn't discard it. I've baked in it but now mainly use it for tossing salads.
The dish is slightly brighter than in the photo and coordinates beautifully with my yellow and aqua accented kitchen. Yes, I have aqua pyrex too.

My new dish...

I love pyrex: new or vintage. My happy kitchen colors are yellow and aqua so when I spotted this dish outside at Grayco, I had to buy it.

Of course it was at the very bottom of a shopping cart filled with breakables. Oh, I so carefully teased it out. Then, as I pulled my cart along the back wheel caught the leg of a jicky three legged table. CRASH! SMASH! SHATTER!

How embarrassing! No one even knew what had broken so I couldn't pay for it. I apologized profusely. I hated causing the clerk more work but she was very nice about it. Said she breaks things out there all the time. Hmmm, probably just being polite. I bet she was thinking: Clumsy cow!
