All The Little Birds On Jay Bird Street...

Love to hear the robin go tweet, tweet, tweet...

Tuesday Morning Addition
Last night, I discovered a fabulous weekly photo meme Ruby Tuesday
hosted by Mary at the Work of the Poet blog. Each Tuesday participants worldwide link up red themed photos. The photos are gorgeous and, Oh, did I ooh and ahh.

This morning, I woke up and decided to join the Ruby Tuesday party. I've always considered robins more orangish but they are called 'Robin Redbreast', after all.

Feeding Ducks Again!

After Sunday brunch yesterday, we stopped by Eufaula Cove to feed the ducks.

No weird ducks this time. Here is a pretty duck though. I like the bright blue peek-a-boo feathers. Looks navy in the picture but was more of a royal blue in person.

Talon was very concerned about his bread rations.

Talon is tall but still has toddlerish arms-- so cute and squeezable.

Still a couple of slices left...

Uh oh...

might be one more crust...

Nope, all out...

Retelling the adventure...

Happy boy!

Snow Faeries

Braved the cold to take some photos during the middle of the snowfall last Friday. The snow flakes were small but falling thickly at this point.
Magical! Didn't expect to catch the snow faeries in action!

Lovebirds...

While we were waiting in the car, Talon spotted these birds in the convenience store sign. That boy has great eyesight!

Talon shouted several times: Take a picture of the bird!
I said: Where, Where??
Talon said: In the e!
Finally, I saw it! There are actually two birds. One is on the s.

Isn't it cute!

Free Ferry!

Riding the ferry at Galveston is a tradition! The Texas Department of Transportation operates a 24 hour free ferry between Galveston and the Port Bolivar Penisula. We always walk on for the hour long roundtrip voyage. Great views and dolphin spotting make this a must-do when in Galveston!

Walk-ons ride on the upper deck but we checked out the views from the vehicle deck as well. The ferries are always full. I wonder if they are full at 3:00 in the morning!

Interesting to watch the docking and loading/unloading of vehicles. The crew directs all the vehicles 'just so' to balance out the weight.

Dolphins frolicked all around the ferry for the whole trip. We had a blast spotting them. Dolphins are very fast so this is the only shot I got. An old man told us that the prevalence of dolphins meant a clean healthy ecosystem with plenty of food. Didn't think the gulf was particularly clean with all the refineries and factories along the coast. I don't remember seeing dolphins back in the 80s so maybe it is getting cleaner.

View of Seawolf Military Park. We plan to tour the sub and battleship on our next trip.

Pelicans at rest

Enjoying the view

Mostly asians fishing off the rocks next to the dock. Could they be sushi purveyors?

This bird perched near us and wouldn't fly away.

Avian escort: must've been a good catch!

Mother Nature Provides...

This birdie posed on the mower even after we drove up and opened the car door.

We put out birdseed in the winter but Mother Nature always provides a bountiful feast.

Ornamental pears. The birds must really love these because new trees pop up everywhere!

I think this is an ornamental spuce but all the cedars are fruiting too.

Autumn is a beautiful season! Get outside and observe all the amazing changes taking place!

Pretty Ducks...

Fed the ducks over at Eufaula again. The strange turkey ducks were still there but a few pretty ducks had joined the flock.

Looks just like a decoy!

Feeding Ducks!

When Talon made the cute 'snapper' comment mentioned in a previous post, I started taping. He didn't say it again but said other cute things. Turn up the volume to hear his voice.

Tuck or Durkey?

What type of crazy looking duck is this? We've never seen this kind before. There was a whole flock at the lake--- Poor ugly things. Geese are such bullies but they never once interfered with these guys!

Feeding Critters...

The ducks kept biting Talon's hand along with the bread--- didn't hurt but kept startling him. Talon said: They're quite fast snappers!

Don't lean over too far!!

A kind stranger took our picture...

Hungry bread eating carp!

Feeding fish and regular run-of-the-mill ducks...

The turtles had no interest in bread...

A couple of local characters driving their golf cart on the pier. Talon said: Take a picture! So I did. I wasn't brazen enough to take a frontal shot but the driver had a super long white beard. He would have looked right at home driving a sleigh--- or at least a harley!

Mystery Birds...

Here are photos of our pair of mystery birds. Does anyone know what they are?

These birds have been around all summer and seem too small to be orioles so we think they may be finches. The female is pale yellow and the male is a vibrant yellow. They mainly eat the seeds off the spent sunflowers--- and other flowers too.
