Glamor Witch

Watch out, she'll cast a spell on you!

Actually, that wouldn't be such a bad thing.  I bet I'm not the only one who could use a little glamorizing and blinging up... Pin It

How to Improve Your Fashion Photo Shoot: Tips for Amateurs

So I'm not a fashion blogger.  But I do wear clothes.  And I do the odd style post now and again. Hey, no 'odd' style cracks.  You know I mean randomly occasional!

I dabble in just about anything that tickles my fancy so after seeing the fantabulosity of  Izzy's fashion blog (she is also a co-blogger on my bookblog), I decided to go for more artsy style shots!  Ha!  Hahahahhaha  Silly me! What was I thinking?!

Izzy makes it look effortless but getting an acceptable shot is tougher than it looks!

Look at this: hair blowing in my nose, bra strap showing, necklace askew, sweater bunched here and there!
Pitiful! Don't know if an entire crew could've salvaged this one! But I need people, I tell you, people!

It was fun though and as goofy as most of the photos turned out, they are still more interesting than my usual frozen staring straight at the camera smile.

That is a trick I learned from Izzy:

Don't smile into the camera!

Darn necklace is still askew! But I'm not looking at the camera!

The next time you thumb through a fashion mag, pay attention to the models. Very few smiles and they usually look away from the camera. And they are usually snapped  lolling about or moving in some bizarrely interesting way.

Another trick I learned from Izzy:

Focus on one part of the outfit or model!

Love the ruffled tops of these suede boots!

A photo of a shoe or necklace or collar or eye or hand or lips can be much more dramatic and interesting than the outfit or body as a whole. And highlighting one interesting element in an artsy way means less pleasing parts aren't on display! ;o)

My five year boy is the photographer for this shot.  The lighting and sharpness could be better but it is still one of my faves from this photo shoot.  The breeze blown skirt and fringe adds a little pizzaz, don't you think.

Wedge heels are the best!  At least for those of us who need stability! ;o)

Photo shoots are silly and fun. Try one!

And don't be afraid to experiment .

Street Style: Hit or Miss?

What a cute outfit! A definite street style hit in Las Vegas!

I'm not a zebra expert like Wanda but I bet she'd say this outfit is zebra-tacular!

Aren't the tourists boring compared to the coupon girl?

Do You Buy Jewelry On Spec?

This copper and pink necklace has been hanging out with my other jewelry but never worn for three years. It's quite amiable-- plays well with all the other necklaces and not one complaint about the years of neglect-- it's a jewel, I tell you, a jewel!

Finally, patience paid off and this little necklace met it's perfect match!

Who is the significant other in question? Why, just a little ol' $7 black friday special from... wait for it... wait for it... WALMART!!  Who woulda thunk it?!

Do you ever buy jewelry on spec then wait patiently till the perfect outfit serendipitously appears?

If so, what is the longest you've waited?

Have you ever given up and just thrown the jewelry away?

I have... never did find a match for a huge chunky brass necklace from the 80s-- dang, that thing was ugly-- but, I dang sure got lucky this time!!

Zebra Surprise!

Wanda hasn't featured in a blogpost in many moons. Don't worry-- the lack of Wanda is only due to my laziness. She is as fabulous and fun and blingalicious as ever.

Remember Wanda's penchant for all things zebra?

So of course, this was the bracelet for Wanda-- plus a coordinating silver and black necklace. Poor Talon, he was so excited for Wanda to open her gift but he was feeling puny.  No worries, he perked up after a quick trip to the 'no appointment needed and no waiting' doctor.

Zebra-tacular!

Crazy Days!

Yesterday, was Crazy Dress Day at School!

Crazy Cajun!

Craaaazeee!

Presenting Preposterously Purple! Purple exercise pants, purple blingy top and purple camo hat!  Not too crazy but I don't really need to dress crazy-- it is what is on the inside that counts! Ha!

And my crazy clodhoppers! By the way, the tag says 'available in wide'. My feet are not wide-- not that there is anything wrong with wide...

Cheap Sunglasses!

Where do you buy your eyeglasses? Are you brave enough to buy them online? What about online from a foreign country?

For a few years now, I have been ordering my prescription eyeglasses from MyOpticalShop.com. Their frames range in price from $19 to $49 and the lenses are very reasonable too. They offer the same fancy lenses and coatings offered anywhere. The only difference is a decent price. Really, who wants to pay $300 for glasses?!

I've been so pleased with my rimless and hingeless glasses from MyOpticalShop that I decided to order prescription sunglasses too.

Purple semi-rimless! Love them!

All you need is your prescription, pupillary distance and a bit of bravery... Are you game?

Lesa in Lime with PomPoms...

Should be a hit song, don't you think? Kind of like "Lucy in the sky with diamonds". What? You don't think so! Aw, come on... might be a catchy tune!

Lime is my new color the last 3 years. In the past, I assumed it would make me look ill in a greenish sort of way. But it isn't too bad and makes me feel perky on a deary winter day!

What I really love are my pompom boots! I searched all last year and never found the perfect pair. Finally this year, I spotted a woman wearing a contender at the snow slide. I lost her before I could ask for the specs but researched on the internet till I found them at Planet Shoes. They are suede waterproof Sporto boots with fur all the way to tippy toes. Toasty warm!
