Breakfast at School

Talon's school invited all the moms to a breakfast in honor of Mother's Day.

Breakfast with my little boy. What a lovely way to start the day!

Daffy for Dillies

I'm downright daffy for daffodils.  Such merry blossoms... so many shades of yellow welcoming the warm spring sunshine.

These earliest blooms grow in my herb bed.

Notice that I'm working the daffodil look myself... yellow blouse, green capris, dirt brown sandals. Silly? Maybe...  but it is a celebration of spring and a girl must dress for the occasion!

Oh, I just love these frilly trumpets!

A few of the naturalized daffodils in the front forty.

I planted a bushel of mixed bulbs 13 years ago and it was full of  lovely surprises.

These daffodils run the gamut from white to cream to yellow to orange... from giant blossoms to petite clusters... from long trumpets to no trumpets.

Notice the flower with the spider. Looks like it has fangs of its own-- Mr. Spider better watch out!

Did I mention I was daffy for daffodils?

Yep, daffy at the very least...

Merry Medley Photo Diary 2011

Oh my, after a week long bloggy break, I uploaded my Christmas Eve/Day photos. Guess how many there were.

Over 300!!

Can you believe it?!  Silly question, eh? Of course, you guys believe it. Most of you are crazy camera clicking bloggers too.  But still. That is a lot.

Between getting back to work, parenting and housekeeping, it took another week just to edit.  Whew, I'm worn plumb out so without  further ado...

The Official DustyUs Family Merry Medley!

The main event?

Talon, of course!

Stocking surprises are almost as cool as Santa toys.

In the top right quandrant: A cool sportscar computer mouse with working head/tail lights;  Talon slicing a tiny Darth Vader candy dispenser with a light saber; Wonka bar!

One of my favorite things?

giving Hub funny stocking stuffers. The paint sticks and gloves are hysterical... well, to me anyway! Don't worry!  My hub isn't only a skilled bone idle procrastinator... he is also a good sport!

We love our...

MamaGram!  And not just because she gives great gifts!

A little bit of Lesa too.  And more Talon, of course... that little scene stealer! Making his mama share the limelight! For shame!

Love me some Christmas merry making!

Can you tell?

Until next time...

Trimming the Tree

A mosaic of our tree decorating fun. Talon hangs most of the ornaments but I always hang my favorite little red cardinals.

Which reminds me... I need to put out bird seed for our colorful little feathered friends. Cardinals always cheer up the drab winter view out of our kitchen window.

Ride'em Cowburgers!

Are we dining or riding the range?

Yes, that is me sitting side saddle-- can't hitch a leg over wearing a skirt!

Whataburger is mainly in the South but check here for store locations, maybe you'll get lucky, pardner!

Funny that in my hometown, the Whataburgers have themes-- or at least the two that I've been to have themes.

Can you guess the theme of the other one?

 Nascar!

What can I say, I grew up in Redneckville!

Do the Whataburgers in your neck of the woods have themes?

Mother's Day Tip

Talon's kindergarten class painted wooden spoons and wrapped them up with chocolate kisses for Mother's Day.

Aw, such a cute little gift.

And, of course, I received a real smooch too--- priceless.

The stomach virus he passed along--- not so much.

Mother's Day tip: Don't kiss a puny kid!!

Do You Buy Jewelry On Spec?

This copper and pink necklace has been hanging out with my other jewelry but never worn for three years. It's quite amiable-- plays well with all the other necklaces and not one complaint about the years of neglect-- it's a jewel, I tell you, a jewel!

Finally, patience paid off and this little necklace met it's perfect match!

Who is the significant other in question? Why, just a little ol' $7 black friday special from... wait for it... wait for it... WALMART!!  Who woulda thunk it?!

Do you ever buy jewelry on spec then wait patiently till the perfect outfit serendipitously appears?

If so, what is the longest you've waited?

Have you ever given up and just thrown the jewelry away?

I have... never did find a match for a huge chunky brass necklace from the 80s-- dang, that thing was ugly-- but, I dang sure got lucky this time!!

Bingo!

One of my schools hosted a bingo fundraiser at the VFW.  This was the first one and what a success!  This school only has approximately 150 students in PK-12 but in 4 hours they raised $3000 dollars!

All the donated prizes were great: prizes for straight bingo were gift certificates of all kinds, tools, decor items ect. and prizes for blackout bingo were bikes, computer moniter, and a Dooney&Burke purse. The grand prize was a 42 in tv.

BINGO! Can't believe I won on my second game! I don't know anything about salon products but friends who do oohed and aahed over this set.

Talon loves bingo and can speak the lingo! A few games in,  he asked: Is this straight or blackout?  Too bad he is too young for the casino!

We had the most fabulous time and can't wait to play again.   The school plans to host another bingo next spring but we won't have to wait that long.  The VFW offers bingo every Thursday night and the play is for money! Yipee!   Kids can only stay if they can play-- don't think we'll have any problems there Pin It

Crazy Days!

Yesterday, was Crazy Dress Day at School!

Crazy Cajun!

Craaaazeee!

Presenting Preposterously Purple! Purple exercise pants, purple blingy top and purple camo hat!  Not too crazy but I don't really need to dress crazy-- it is what is on the inside that counts! Ha!

And my crazy clodhoppers! By the way, the tag says 'available in wide'. My feet are not wide-- not that there is anything wrong with wide...

Cheap Sunglasses!

Where do you buy your eyeglasses? Are you brave enough to buy them online? What about online from a foreign country?

For a few years now, I have been ordering my prescription eyeglasses from MyOpticalShop.com. Their frames range in price from $19 to $49 and the lenses are very reasonable too. They offer the same fancy lenses and coatings offered anywhere. The only difference is a decent price. Really, who wants to pay $300 for glasses?!

I've been so pleased with my rimless and hingeless glasses from MyOpticalShop that I decided to order prescription sunglasses too.

Purple semi-rimless! Love them!

All you need is your prescription, pupillary distance and a bit of bravery... Are you game?

Horseplay at PF Chang's

Talon still fits under the big horse!
Just wait, the horse has magical power...
Really... you won't believe your eyes!

Seriously...

Are you ready?

Amazing, isn't it! The horse transferred the power of levitation to Talon!

Dad, the magician, is so proud!

Too cool!

Okay, now that is just showing off!

Don't let go... he might float away!

Lesa's Picks

Pink Surrey with the fringe on top...

My color! I want a turquoise car to make my blue eyes pop!

Or a hotrod turquoise truck... You know I love the old trucks. Needs some pink flames, though. Talon's influence...

Cool old truck!

Funny fish truck!
Maybe a golf cart?

The auto industry stopped making cars and went into military production during World War 2. That is why there aren't any vehicles from that time period. These 1946 trucks were some of the first made after the war. Aren't they beautiful?

All my friends know the lowrider! Metal Flake Tangerine--- Sparkly!

Lesa in Lime with PomPoms...

Should be a hit song, don't you think? Kind of like "Lucy in the sky with diamonds". What? You don't think so! Aw, come on... might be a catchy tune!

Lime is my new color the last 3 years. In the past, I assumed it would make me look ill in a greenish sort of way. But it isn't too bad and makes me feel perky on a deary winter day!

What I really love are my pompom boots! I searched all last year and never found the perfect pair. Finally this year, I spotted a woman wearing a contender at the snow slide. I lost her before I could ask for the specs but researched on the internet till I found them at Planet Shoes. They are suede waterproof Sporto boots with fur all the way to tippy toes. Toasty warm!
