Christmas in July!

Talon's wonderful Aunt Jerry and Uncle Charles are great at finding treasures for little boys! So many amazing toys, books, puzzles and games over the years. Thank you for always thinking of Talon--- and us too. Jim is always thrilled over the guitars ect--- and I enjoy all the books and little girly odds and ends. I adore the teeny purses in the latest treasure trove--- I've already carried the brown one. Thanks again! You guys are the best!

Thanks Aunt Jerry and Uncle Charles for all the toys!

Hmmm, what to play with first...

Love the superman computer!

Hummingbirds!

I'm standing about 3 ft away--- the females are brave--- whizzing around fast as lighting and humming so loud. Each one sounds like a 10 lb bumblebee-- I've been startled many times over the years into thinking I'm under attack...

This is a male-- more colorful with the ruby throat but a bit shy...

Mannequins...

This is the sight I saw as I turned around in Penny's this week. Never a dull moment with Talon. At least, he is color coordinated...

Pool Sharks!

What a time Talon had playing pool with DeLynne! He woke up the next morning saying: I finally know how to play pool! DeLynne, thanks for being such a good friend and spending so much time entertaining Talon. He loved every minute! Pin It

Woolaroc Museum

Here are a few of Talon's favorite exhibits at the museum:

Talon was fascinated by this powwow automaton. While it revolves, the tiny drummers chant and pound the communal drum. The tiny dancers proudly stomp and dance in all their regalia. The spectators spectate, of course, but they moved some too. Just like a real powwow--- Quite amazing!

Talon liked the Woolaroc plane suspended from the ceiling. It won a race in 1927 from Oakland to Honolulu taking just over 26 hours of flight time. Torrey, aren't you glad it doesn't take that long nowadays!

Toy Trucks!

and a real truck!

Talon loves to try out furniture but this one was not too comfy.

Oh, Give Me A Home...

Where the buffalo roam...

and the deer and the antelope play...

These animals live at the Woolaroc wildlife preserve that was owned by oilman Frank Phillips.
Does anyone know what type of deer the unusual white one is? Daddy doesn't even know so it must be a mystery deer.

The museum and lodge walls, ceilings and tables are covered with preserved animals. Of course, living in Oklahoma, we are used to seeing a few trophys here and there--- but this was so extreme that it put us right off Mr. Phillips. There was actually a poor giraffe's neck and head jutting out from a wall of the lodge.

Yeah, I know what you are thinking, besides eeyew, of course. We thought the same thing---that Frank Phillips was a big game hunter shipping exotic animals into his own private preserve to hunt. Imagine our suprise when a docent explained that that all the animals (except 4) died of natural causes after a happy life on the preserve. Phillips was friends with the Ringlings so some may have been retired from the circus.

After that, we thought better of old Frank...

Incredible Pizza!

Okay, so we finally went to Incredible Pizza---I've been hearing students rave about it for 2 years and wanted to see what the hub-bub was all about. Plus, I knew Talon would go absolutely nuts with excitement.

Here's the deal: It is similar to a Chuckie Cheese except there are also indoor go-carts, bowling (full size and mini), puttputt and bumper cars---the place is huge and so much fun! Talon loved it all but his favorites were the go-carts and bumper cars.

The only caveat is that one must eat the buffett in order to play--- which is a shame. The food is mediocre at best and Talon would get to go more often if we weren't required to dine.

Our happy pre-buffet faces...

Well, Talon didn't mind the buffet so much and he didn't stop smiling all evening...

Ready or not, here I come!

Talon and Irving...

Talon loves cruising on the Showboat Branson Belle. His favorite part of the show is the ventriliquist's talking dogs act. Talon thinks it is hilarious--- so meeting and petting the main dog, Irving, was the big highlight of the evening.

Homespun Fun in Tx!

Playing in the sprinkler in the front yard (after washing the car)...
Just like old times, except my swimsuit is modest and there is a Talon instead of a Torrey.
