Muck and Bubbles

Egg hunting in Oklahoma is always unpredictable. Sometimes, we wear sweaters. Sometimes, we wear shorts.  This year, we wore muck boots.
The bunny navigated the floods just fine...

Talon keeps his eggs all in one basket...

A tie dye egg and bubble eggs.  I've been wanting to try bubble photos since seeing these amazing shots at Flower Photography 365 blog.

These were the first bubbles I encountered-- have a long way to go, obviously, but the experimenting and striving is most of the fun.

Pastel?

Each Kindergarten student had to bring ten plastic eggs to school for the egg hunt. I picked up two bags of eggs at Dollar General and asked Talon which he wanted to take: pastel eggs or bright eggs...

He said: I'll take the 'passed out' eggs!!

Kids hear things funny, don't they.

Ladybug or Manbug?

How can you tell?

Are the manbugs offended by the name 'ladybug?

Just a little something I've giggled about since seeing the movie, A Bug's Life. Francis the Manbug was macho but maybe he needs a less ambiguous name! haha

The ladybug's a beetle.
It's shaped like a pea.
Its color is a bright red
With lots of spots to see.
Although the name is ladybug
Some ladybugs are men.
So why don't we say "gentleman bug"
Every now and then?

Here are the ladybugs/manbugs/peoplebugs that I spotted in the field yesterday. Aren't they cute?!
The Ladybug wears no disguises.
She is just what she advertises.
A speckled spectacle of spring,
A fashion statement on the wing....
A miniature orange kite.
A tiny dot-to-dot delight.
~J. Patrick Lewis, "The Little Buggers"

Oh ladybug, I wish you joy
As you complete your garden chores.
I'd like to put aside my work
And join you in the out-of-doors!

Hope they find their way to my garden...

Spring Green

Spring is greening up nicely. All the trees are leafed out and we even had to mow!

This is a Mountain Ash that I planted years ago-- such a slowpoke grower. Maybe it would rather live on a mountain... I know I would!  Ozarks, maybe...

This catalpa is a lazy grower too. And it has had nary a worm...

Chinese-Style Chicken Veggie Noodle Soup

Here is another one of my yummy fast at lightning soups.

This is a lighter soup and just perfect for a chilly spring day.  If you are battling a miserable spring cold, the spicy chicken broth will soothe and comfort.

Here is what you will need:

Plus, minced garlic.

In a soup pot,  saute 1-2 minced garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger in a bit of olive oil or oil of choice over med high heat until fragrant (30 sec to a minute).

Add two cans of chicken broth bring to simmer.

Add:
3 tablespoons of soy sauce
2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
hot chile sauce to taste

Use more or less soy sauce/rice vinegar to suit your taste.

Add bag of frozen sugar snap stir fry mix.

Add water if needed.

Cook till heated through.

Add salt if needed.

In a separate pot, cook noodles of choice; drain.

Add noodles to bowl and top with hot soup.

Top with cooked shrimp or diced cooked chicken if desired. .
Plain veggie with wheat noodles.  Linguini noodles may be substituted for Chinese wheat noodles

This soup is very adjustable. Many times I add two bags of veggies and increase the water rather than increase the broth so it isn't so chickeny.

Of course, I double the seasoning if I add lots of water.

Sometime, I have added diced chicken to the pot along with the veggies. Tasty, but it is more versatile as plain veggie-- each person can add or not add meat to their bowl as they choose.

with cooked shrimp and rice noodles

Enjoy!
