Shop till you drop...

When I told the family we would shop till we drop on the way back from OKC,

I didn't mean it literally!

Around OKC...

Love this! Tattoos, shorts, santa hat and happy passengers!

Too Cool! What a nice guy and not a bit creepy! When the driver saw me taking a pic as he rolled by, he stopped and offered to let Talon pose with the chopper.
Talon was so bedazzled by the chopper... Don't think he even noticed the face.

Love my guys!
(good thing I'm tomboy-esque since I'm outnumbered)

Meeting one of the Bricktown ambassadors...

She took a photo of us...

Oklahoma City Museum of Art

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art was enjoyable but I think we prefer the Gilcrease and Philbrook Museums in Tulsa.

The special exhibit was the Dutch Italianates. Couldn't take any photos of those, however. Amazing to see but seemed like all the Dutch artists painted the same Italian scene or maybe all the Italian peasants, cows and countryside looked the same in the 1600s. For more info on the Dutch Italianates:

Photography without flash was allowed in some galleries

Yep, this was a Talon fave!

I always enjoy portraits and the museum had a more extensive collection than I expected.

This is a portrait of Kitty Packe who married the Lord of the Manor of Great Glenn. I wish the photo did it justice. She is so pretty and the dress details so vivid. In person, the book in her lap looks three dimensional as if it is protruding out of the painting.

Here is a link to a better image of it on Flickr:

A couple of the Thomas Moran paintings

Don't have any info on this but isn't it..

Fabulously flamboyant!

This permanent memorial is a 55 ft tall Dale Chihuly Sculpture.

Very impressive...

For more info and a better view:

The museum also had a Dale Chihuly glass exhibit that was quite amazing! The gallery was very dark and the sculptures so striking and colorful. It felt like we were walking through a beautiful alien sea.
Here is a link to some of the sculptures we saw:

If you would like to learn more about Dale Chihuly, the artist has a great website:
The home page flashes some of his sculptures. Check out the Violet Tumbleweeds.

Hope you enjoyed this overview of our excursion to the OKC Museum of Art.
Even though the museum itself lacks the charm of the Tulsa museums (difficult to compete with the Philbrook Mansion), it is definitely worth a visit.

Overall, it's a pleasant museum: easy to stroll through with nice spacious galleries.

Looking forward to seeing future exhibits there.

Around the hotel...

On this trip to OKC, we stayed at the Renaissance Marriott in Bricktown. Talon loves any hotel but this may be his favorite in OKC. It has beautiful public areas, super cool elevators, watergardens with fish and lots more to explore! Talon highly recommends this hotel!

Talon's first atrium hotel. Very aesthetically pleasing but way too many balconies for a curious little boy.

Love the skylight! Wouldn't I have a great greenhouse with a ceiling like that?! I would have to put on airs and call it my conservatory.

Night view of the skylight and elevators. Talon couldn't get enough of the elevators! There were four total: two at each end. All glass so a great view of the whole interior as we zoomed up and down. We won several races! Of course, the riders in the other elevators didn't know it was a race!

Cool old timey style phone located at the elevators. Talon checked out it out. Of course, the front desk surprised him with a ring back .

Intrepid hotel explorers!

(Yes, I'm still working the sweater. Guess I'll have to give it a rest until Valentine's Day!)

Lovely waterfall! One good thing about indoor waterfalls, I don't have to listen to hubby grousing about the hike!

Looking at fish...

Pretty fish!

Snow Tubing! Wheee!

Here's Talon spinning around backwards. You can see a bit of Jim sliding at the top.
So yes, I was the guinea pig sent down first...

Still spinning...

Ready to go again!

Waiting in line

Fun Fun Fun!

Nothing to it, even ol' dad can do it!

Pink Stocking Surprise!

What a fabulous blingy bag! Of course, it belongs to Wanda! It is quite large and holds a multitude of smaller purses and essentials.
Definitely suits our Wanda!

Pretty in Purple!

So I walked into a jewelry store in Texas that had a wall covered in zebra print accessories that just happened to have pink trim and monograms. What are the odds?! I stopped dead in my tracks and exclaimed: It's a whole wall of Wanda!

What a surprise!
