Garlic Chives

Garlic chive buds. I love that garlic chives bloom in the fall.
Do you cook with garlic chives? I'll confess that I rarely do but I use onion chives like they are going out of style! I'd like to use garlic chives more-- any suggestions?

  2. Well, I'll be absolutely no help for you there, because I had no idea there were different kinds of chives. I thought chives were chives. And I even have some growing in my garden!

I like to chop 'em up and sprinkle 'em on home fries.

  3. Aren't these the most beautiful plants...I just love the little white buds sprouting all over the place!

  4. Kathy: If your chives have round stems and bloom purple in the spring, they are onion chives. If they have flat stems and bloom white in the fall, then they are garlic chives. Smell and taste of the stem is a giveaway too.

Good idea-- I'll try that. I mainly use my onion chives in salads, on baked potatoes and sprinkled on a bowl of soup.
